Special Note from Glen Kuban (7/18/08):

Squad,

Glen Kuban here.  As some of you may have heard, I am back living in Cleveland again.  I hope to see many of you at the fossil club picnic/auction this Saturday.

I also have a favor to ask of any members who have collected in the Arkona, Ontario area.  A curator at the Shell Museum in Thailand (featuring both modern and ancient shells) recently contacted me to see if I could find a display-quality specimen of the brachiopod species Mucrospirifer arkonensis for him, preferably on matrix. These are similar to other Mucro's from Slyvania, Ontario, and other M. Devonian sites, but have much longer "wings", as shown in the links below:

If you have any good A. arkonensis specimens you might be willing to part with (for sale, trade, etc), please let me know.  The curator is also looking for dramatic specimens of ammonites (especially herteromorphs), gastropods, and pelecypods. If you could bring any possibilities to the picnic tomorrow or call/email me soon that would be great.
Some legislation in Thailand is pending that could ban the export and import of all fossils, so he'd like to get any
specimens as soon as possible.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Glen
